Hatzalah South Florida
00:00:09:13 – 00:00:10:21
Valerie Banon
What’s going through my mind?
00:00:11:09 – 00:00:16:01
Rabbi Yisroel Janowski
And he was turning colors in, and he was having a lot of trouble breathing.
00:00:16:16 – 00:00:28:09
Roni Yosef Berebi
And there are some people like feeling my foot because I like my foot was twisted and also here, my newborn’s not responding. Oh, please get here now, please.
00:00:28:10 – 00:00:46:03
Gerard Bensadon
I need I need somebody right now. I laid down it was probably 1130, and all of a sudden within four seconds I knew something was wrong. I go, I am having a heart attack like I knew it.
00:00:46:11 – 00:01:01:06
Rabbi Yisroel Janowski
And in the morning we had our 9:10 month old baby in the high chair, eating breakfast and somehow a little plastic cover of something maybe that that big somehow ended up on his highchair and he put it in his mouth.
00:01:01:12 – 00:01:10:17
Roni Yosef Berebi
I was walking and like, no crosswalk that I stepped down and the car literally hit me and I flew.
00:01:10:22 – 00:01:17:07
Valerie Banon
It was very hard for me to see him so much suffer and also to see our kids suffer.
00:01:17:12 – 00:01:33:20
Rabbi Yisroel Janowski
He was having a lot of trouble breathing and he was like somewhat breathing and starting stopping and quickly yanked him out of the high chair. My wife is pretty good at the heimlich, so I brought the baby to her and she tried her best to, you know, to do the heimlich and it wasn’t helping.
00:01:33:21 – 00:01:42:07
Rabbi Yisroel Janowski
He was barely breathing. So, of course, we called Hatzalah right away. Hatzalah answers the phone, I’m like, please send someone quick.
00:01:42:07 – 00:01:52:13
Gerard Bensadon
My phone because of everything that was going on recorded everything. And Hatzalah arrived at the house within two minutes, 36 seconds of the call.
00:01:53:04 – 00:02:06:11
Roni Yosef Berebi
Some people came from outside and they started checking what’s like, what’s up with all my things where I get like, you know, damage or I don’t? And from there they they brought me to the hospital.
00:02:06:23 – 00:02:16:23
Rabbi Yisroel Janowski
House full of Hatzalah and police, and they’re working on the baby trying their best to get the piece out, but they’re not being successful. So they call the call for an ambulance.
00:02:17:02 – 00:02:30:11
Gerard Bensadon
It was the magic moment when someone’s having a cardiac arrest that you have x amount of time to make it to the hospital for them to figure out what’s going on. I mean, it’s called the industry, I think, door to balloon time.
00:02:31:01 – 00:02:39:07
Gerard Bensadon
And that’s what gave the ability to have enough oxygen in the body to increase that time to get me to the hospital.
00:02:39:20 – 00:02:47:15
Rabbi Yisroel Janowski
So my wife’s very hesitant to get into that ambulance because she’s like, What if I go in the in the ambulance and he stops breathing there? But Hatzalah said. You don’t have a choice. You need to get in.
00:02:47:15 – 00:03:02:03
Rabbi Yisroel Janowski
There she is holding the baby on the stretcher and once again, the baby stops breathing and she’s like, screams out. The baby is not breathing again and the Hatzalah volunteer takes the kid and holds him upside down and does one final heimlich.
00:03:02:03 – 00:03:05:03
Rabbi Yisroel Janowski
And then boom. The piece comes flying out of his mouth.
00:03:05:19 – 00:03:20:00
Gerard Bensadon
I think within 30 minutes from leaving the house, the first step was inserted into my main artery, which was 93% blocked. But really, if it wasn’t for Hatzalah, it wouldn’t happen.
00:03:20:08 – 00:03:32:04
Roni Yosef Berebi
Because they’re actually with me. Like, not the car, whatever. They’re taking care of me, picking me up, whatever and talking with me. I feel more safe also there because I know people that are trying to take care of.
00:03:32:04 – 00:03:43:19
Rabbi Yisroel Janowski
While it’s ultimately up to Hashem whether the baby survives or not. You know, we have solved the thing for taking charge of the situation and being that sense of calm and professionalism.
00:03:44:02 – 00:03:54:01
Valerie Banon
To live a life of selfless selflessness like this. We lived a miracle thanks to Hatzalah, so we cannot be more …
00:03:54:03 – 00:03:55:00
Gerard Bensadon
Thank you, so much.
00:03:55:00 – 00:03:55:15
Valerie Banon
Grateful.
